Fourth of July

First of all, the Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. Besides Thanksgiving, that's a good holiday too. But on the fourth, you get to spend the weekend with family eating yummy food, socializing, watching fireworks, enjoying the warm weather, and so on. I am so grateful for those who have gone before us to give us what we have. We are blessed to be in this area at this time. I always get a teeny bit emotional at the Stadium of Fire at some parts. It was great to start this marriage off with the good ol' holiday of Independence Day.

We kicked the weekend off with the traditional Stadium of Fire with my family. Because my dad works for BYU security, he has to work the event every year. My family usually joins him for the evening.

We then helped out with the security for the parade late Sunday night/early Monday morning. We pretty much just dove around on a golf cart guarding the floats. It was fun. Last year we had the 11 pm- 2 am shift, which was nice. This year we had the 3 am-6 am shift. Yikes.

We thought it'd be a good idea to just head over to the balloon fest after security since we finished when the festival was starting. After about 5 minutes on the grass, we started to fall asleep so we packed up and went home for what was supposed to be a quick nap, but turned into a rather longer nap.

We had a breakfast to attend to with the neighborhood from 7-9 that morning, but we barely made it at about 9 when we woke up. Luckily they still had plenty of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, and orange juice for us. It was super yummy.

We enjoyed fabulous seats at the parade sitting on actual chairs under the shade (thanks Mary and Daryl!)

Later that day we went to Jimmy's sister's house to enjoy a family barbecue and some fireworks.
Jimmy had way too much fun playing with the nieces' toys.
Cute kids building a fire, it all started with the sparklers.

We even wore little matching outfits :)

We look forward to next year!
