Tutorial: Yo-Yo Flower Headband

First official tutorial on Breit Side! Whoo-hoo! Lets get this blog rolling so we can hand out free products, mkay??? I'm whipping something fun up to start off with. I'll announce a giveaway in the near future for those who stay close by.

ANYWHO. This flower headband has been super fun to wear today! Its been kind of a "lazy hair day" over here. And since I just made this headband this morning, I threw it on to test it out while I ran errands. I walked into the craft store, and a lady came up and complemented on it! I think I'll wear it to work tomorrow too. I really kind of am in love with this one. So here it is:

Supplies needed: Any fabric of your choice. I did a polyester cotton lemon print, because I could use a little sunshine on my head and cotton is easy to work with. Scissors, paper and a writing utensil, hot glue, needle, and thread. I also used an elastic headband and some little pearly white beads later on.

1- Draw two separate circles on your paper. One circle will be slightly larger than the other. They don't need to be perfect at all, I just free handed it. You can make them any size you wish. (Keep in mind that they will end up being about half the size as the circle you draw. I did a five-ish and four-ish inch circle.) Cut your cirlces out.

2- Using your circles as a pattern, cut two circles out of your fabric. One big circle, and one small circle. (To save some time, you can fold your fabric up to cut more circles out at once)

3- Thread your needle, then do a simple stitch all the way around your big circle, it doesn't need to be perfectly even, just make sure you're staying about 1/8 of an inch away from the edge.

4- Once you have gone all the way around, pull your thread tight. This will cause your circle to gather up.

5- Knot your thread. Then repeat steps 3-5 with the small circle.

6- Once both circles are complete, hot glue the smaller circle on top of the bigger circle, with the little gathers on top.

7- I took little pearly white beads and hot glued them to the center of my flowers. Do that step at this point.

8- Now repeat steps 2-7 two more times, you'll have three yo-yo flowers.

9- Hot glue flowers to your headband, I glued them really close, like a little overlapping close. That way they won't be super spaced out when the headband is being stretched.

Voila! Now pair your pretty little headband with some bold lipstick and wear it EVERYWHERE! And make a million more, one in every color. I know I will. :)

I would love to see what you have come up with!

P.S. HAPPY WEEKEND! Hope you all do something fun!
